About
This blog is an attempt to document and consolidate some of the reams of information from the Internet, my own iPhone course I am currently enrolled in at BCIT as well as forum posts, tips and tricks I have started to learn about while working on the iPhone.
I have almost 15 years of experience working in IT, specifically in web operations. I have done a lot of scripting work, some Java, PHP and Perl. I have no previous experience in working on mobile devices or with Objective-C specifically. When I started working with the iPhone I was most amazed and overwhelmed by the amount of documentation provided my Apple. The problem was where to start?
You could read a thousand pages on UITableViews, pointers, CGRect and other lexicon and never get a real sense of how the sample applications work. I found the disjointed information my biggest barrier to entry in developing a working application on the iPhone.
There are quite a few excellent tutorials and resources on the web. Apple has done a commendable job in documented the various APIs and provides sample code in most cases. My goal here is to try to point people in the right direction based on what they are trying to do. Wish me luck and happy coding.
